What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry involves the use of pharmacological agents to calm and relax the nervous patient prior to dental treatment. All cosmetic and restorative dentistry treatments can safely be performed during dental sedation. There are many different types of sedation, including intravenous (IV) and nitrous oxide. We use a board-certified anesthesiologist to perform sedation dentistry in our office. Consult with your dentist before choosing which type of sedation is right for you.
What precautions do I need to take?
Before choosing dental sedation, remember to consult with the dentist. Many types of sedation have lingering effects. For the safety of everyone, patients who receive dental sedation treatment should have a family member or friend present to drive them home from their appointment.
